WE SHOULD ALL BE FEMINISTS.

Some people will bring up evolutionary biology and apes, how female apes bow to male apes-that sort of things but the point is this we are not apes. Apes also live in trees and eat earthworms. we do not. p. 43

Now, this book contains an essay, and it cost me somewhere around 225. It consists of 52 pages. What saddened me is discovering that this essay is just a modified version of a TED Talk the author once delivered.

Everything is good, words worth listening. She has shared her experiences as a woman, detailing all the big and small battles she had to fight just because she was born as a woman, as a Nigerian. After reading, I felt that India is not much different from that.

The best feminist I know is my brother Kene, who is also a kind, good-looking and very masculine young man. My own definition of a feminist is a man or a woman who says, 'Yes, there's a problem with gender as it is today and we must fix it, we must do better'
p. 48

Author has attempted to dispel the negativity often associated with the word "feminist."

- a happy faminist.
- a happy African feminist.
- a happy African feminist who doesn't hate the men.

You should definitely go listen to that TED Talk, but I don't think it's necessary to spend 225 on this book. In the US, they're selling it for 9 dollars. However, it's one of the most recommended feminist readings. Everything is simply explained. Loved that.

I have chosen to no longer be apologetic for my femininity. And I want to be respected in all my famaleness. Because I deserve to be. I like politics and history and am happiest when I am having a good argument about ideas. I am girly. I am happy girly. p. 39

Happy Reading ☕
